Organ Donation
The Government has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Committee comprising members from various Ministries/Departments of the Government of India to coordinate all activities relating to promotion of Organ Donation in the Country.
The Government is implementing a National Organ Transplant Programme, under which a provision has been made to award best transplant coordinator, best hospitals/institutes, doctors working in the organ donation related areas and donor families. 15 members of donor families were honoured on the eve of “6th Indian Organ Donation Day” held on 27th November 2015; A post of Director NOTTO in the rank equivalent to Joint Secretary to the Government of India and ten more posts have been created in NOTTO for effective functioning of the NOTTO.
The Minister of State (Health and Family Welfare), Smt Anupriya Patel stated this in a written reply in the Lok Sabha here today.
