NHIDCL to Organise Conference on “Appropriate Technologies for Soil and Slope Stabilization and Road Construction in High Rainfall Areas” 
 
The National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) is organising a conference on “Appropriate Technologies for Soil and Slope Stabilization and Road Construction in High Rainfall Areas” coinciding with its Second Inception Day at New Delhi tomorrow. The Conference, inter alia, aims at advocating the use of appropriate soil, slope stabilization and other technologies to enhance the life cycle benefits of road pavements in high rainfall conditions. The Conference will have three technical sessions chaired by experts in the field and the deliberations aim to focus on introduction of new technologies which would also reduce the carbon footprint during infrastructure construction. A number of experts would be attending this conference. 

The conference would be inaugurated by Sh. Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Ministers of State for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping Sh. Pon. Radhakrishnan and Sh. Mansukh L. Mandaviya will also be present. 

The National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) is a fully owned Company of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India which was incorporated on 18th July 2014. The Company envisages to promote, survey, establish, design, build, operate, maintain and upgrade National Highways and other infrastructure including interconnecting roads particularly in the North Eastern region and strategic areas of the country sharing international boundaries with neighbouring countries. An approximate aggregate length of 10,000 kms has been identified to begin with for development through this Company. In the first phase, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has entrusted 60 works to the Company for constructing 3586 Kms at a total costf Rs 34300 crores.
