Minister of State Shri Mansukh L Mandaviya to visit NIPER and CIPET in Ahmedabad on 13.08.2016.
The Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers and M/o Road, Transport & Highways and Shipping Shri Mansukh L Mandaviya will visit the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) and Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET) in Ahmedabad on 13.08.2016. This will be the first visit by the Minister of State to these two prestigious institutes of the M/o Chemical & Fertilizers, after he assumed charge in the Ministry on 05.07.2016.
NIPER is the first National Level Institute, with the aim of becoming a centre of excellence for advance studies and research in Pharmaceutical Sciences. It has been declared as an Institute of National importance by the Government. NIPER Ahmedabad started functioning in 2007 with courses of MS (Pharma). PhD courses were started in 2011. As on date, NIPER Ahmedabad is conducting MS(Pharma) in 7 disciplines and PhD in 6 disciplines. 125 MS(Pharma) and 23 PhD students are pursuing their course in NIPER Ahmedabad today. Government of Gujarat has allotted 60 acres of land of Palaj, Gandhinagar for the permanent campus of NIPER Ahmedabad. Foundation stone for the new campus was laid by the Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers Sh. Ananth Kumar on 16.12.2015
CIPET offers specialized academic programmes in the field of Plastic Engineering and Technology, in order to provide qualified human resource to Plastics and Allied Industries at various skill levels. It conducts Diploma, Degree and Post Graduate Courses, besides certain short duration vocational courses. CIPET Ahmedabad also provides technology support services in Design, Tooling, Plastics Processing and Testing and Quality Assurances. 405 long term course students passed out from CIPET Ahmedabad in 2015 – 16, while 2970 students completed short term course in the institute during the year.
