Mega Food Parks in Punjab 
 

            The foundation stone of the Mega Food Park being implemented by M/s Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Ltd (PAIC) at Ladhowal, Ludhiana District in the State of Punjab was laid on 26.09.2016. The total project cost is Rs. 117.61 crore including grant-in-aid of Rs. 50.00 crore. The project was accorded final approval on 27.11.2015.  

 

            The Ministry has also sanctioned two other Mega Food Parks in the State of Punjab as per the details below:

The International Mega Food Park at Fazilka has become operational since December, 2014. The time schedule for completion of other two Mega Food Parks being implemented by M/s Sukhjit Mega Food Park & Infra Ltd. at Kapurthala and M/s Punjab Agro Industries Corporation Ltd (PAIC) at Ludhiana is 30 months from the date of release of first installment of grants-in-aid.  

             Each Mega Food Park project on being fully functional and populated with food processing units, is expected to create employment for about 5000-6000 persons and benefit about 25000-30000 farmers in the catchment area.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply in Rajya Sabha today.
