Delegation of Imams meets Union Home Minister

A delegation of Imams led by Dr. Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Chief All India Imams Organization, met here today the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh in the backdrop of the situation in the Kashmir Valley.
The delegation expressed hope that the Government of India as well as the State Government would take every possible step on urgent basis to restore peace in Kashmir. Expressing satisfaction over the deliberations, the delegation thanked the Home Minister for the assurance to restore peace and normalcy in Kashmir valley. They also said that there is no place for terrorism and violence in Islam and added that there is a need to have dialogue with all the stake-holders. The authorities should address the legitimate concerns of the people of Kashmir to improve the atmosphere of trust and confidence, they mentioned. The Imams assured the Home Minister that a delegation would go to the valley to talk to the people for maintaining peace in Jammu & Kashmir.
Prominent among the delegation were Maulana Kalbe Rushaid Rizvi, Prominent Shia Alim, Maulana Zafar Janakpuri, Prominent Islamic Scholar, Maulana Mohibullah Nadvi, Imam, Parliament Street Masjid, Mufti Afroz Alam Qasmi, Chief Qazi, Qari Mian Mohammad Mazhari, Islamic Scholar and ex chairman, National Minorities Financial Development Corporation (NMFDC), Mufti Shamoom Qasmi, Co-founder Anna Movement.
