Section 462 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Hindi and English

462. उसी अपराध के लिए दण्ड, जबकि वह ऐसे व्यक्ति द्वारा किया गया है जिसे अभिरक्षा न्यस्त की गई है -

जो कोई ऐसा बंद पात्र, जिसमें संपत्ति हो, या जिसमें संपत्ति होने का उसे विश्वास हो, अपने पास न्यस्त किए जाने पर उसको खोलने का प्राधिकार न रखते हुए, बेईमानी से या रिष्टि करने के आशय से, उस पात्र को, तोड़कर खोलेगा या उद्बंधित करेगा, वह दोनों में से किसी भांति के कारावास से, जिसकी अवधि तीन वर्ष तक की हो । सकेगी, या जुर्माने से, या दोनों से, दण्डित किया जाएगा।

462. Punishment for same offence when committed by person entrusted with custody -

Whoever, being entrusted with any closed receptacle which contains or which he believes to contain property, without having authority to open the same, dishonestly, or with intent to commit mischief, breaks open or unfastens that receptacle, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.
