Revised cost estimates for upgradation of Tanda to Raebareli section and Raebareli to Banda section of NH-232

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the revised cost estimates for widening of NH-232 to two lane with paved shoulder from Tanda to Raebareli and from Raebareli to Banda in the state of Uttar Pradesh to be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. The total expenditure on widening of roads will be Rs.1376.29 crore with a completion period of 30 months from the date of start of work.

The project will be implemented in two separate packages that is Tanda to Raebareli (Package-1) and from Raebareli to Banda (Package-2). Package-1 will be implemented at an estimated cost of about Rs.817.52 crore with a length of approximately 156 kms. Package-2 will be implemented at an estimated cost of about Rs.558.77 crore having a length of approximately 133 kms.

The project covers the districts of Ambedkarnagar, Sultanpur, Raebareli, Fatehpur and Banda in Uttar Pradesh. With upgradation of this highway to two lane with paved shoulders by overall improvement of the highway, smooth and safe traffic flow will be ensured between Tanda and Banda. Substantial gain in terms of reduced Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) and reduced travel time would also be achieved. In addition, the project would result in development of basic infrastructure in the region which would ultimately lead to overall economic development.
