UTTAR PRADESH SUGARCANE (REGULATION OF SUPPLY AND PURCHASE) (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1960

It is hereby enacted in the tenth year of the Republic of India as follows:
1. This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Regulation of Supply and Purchase) (Amendment) Act, 1960.
2. In the long title and the preamble of the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Regulation of Supply and Purchase) Act, 1953 (hereinafter called the “Principal Act”), for the word “factories”, wherever occurring, the words "factories and Gur, Rab or Khandsari Sugar Manufacturing Units” shall be substituted.
3. In section 2 of the Principal Act :
(1) after clause (j), the following shall be added as a new clause (j-i) :
"(j-i) 'Gur, Rab or Khandsari Sugar Manufacturing Uniť means a unit engaged or ordinarily engaged in the manufacture or production of gur, rab or khandsari sugar in a reserved area, and which is capable of handling sugarcane juice produced with the aid of a crusher driven by any mechanical power;"
(2) in clause (k) for the words “a factory” and “the factory wherever occurring, the words “a factory or a Gur, Rab or Khandsari Sugar Manufacturing Unit" and "the factory and Gur, Rab or Khandsari Sugar Manufacturing Unit" shall respectively be substituted.
