UTTAR PRADESH SUGARCANE LAWS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1961

It is hereby enacted in the Twelfth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title and extent.
(1) This Act may be called the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Regulation of Supply and Purchase and Purchase Tax) (Amendment) Act, 1961.
(2) It extends to the whole of Uttar Pradesh.
2. Amendment of Section 18 of U.P. Act No. XXIV of 1953.
In sub-section (1) of Section 18 of the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Regulation of Supply and Purchase) Act, 1953. for the words and comma for every one maund of cane purchased by the factory or the gur, rab or khandsari sugar manufacturing unit": the words and commas "for every one quintal of cane purchased by the factory or the gur, rab or Khandsari sugar manufacturing unit, as the case may be" shall be substituted.
3. Amendment of Section 3 of U.P. Act No. IX of 1961.
In sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane (Purchase Tax) Act, 1961-
(1) In clause (a), for the words "Twenty-five naya paise per maund" the words "Sixty-Seven naya paise per quintal" shall be substituted, and
(2) In clause (b), for the words "six naya palsa per maund" the words "Sixteen naya paisa per quintal" shall be substituted.
4. Repeal of U.P. Ordinance No. III of 1961.
The Uttar Pradesh Sugarcane Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 1961. is hereby repealed and the provisions of Sections 6 and 24 of the U.P. General Clauses Act, 1904 (U.P. Act of 1904), shall apply as if it were an enactment repealed and re-enacted by an Uttar Pradesh Act.
