THE RAMPURHAT AND BOLPUR MUNICIPAL COMMISSIONERS (EXTENSION OF TERMS) ACT, 1952

West Bengal Act IX of 1952

    An Act to provide for the extension, of the terms of office of the Commissioners of the Rampurhat and Bolpur Municipalities.

    WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the extension of the terms of office of the Commissioners of the Rampurhat and Bolpur Municipalities;

    It is hereby enacted as follows : —

1. Short title and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Rampurhat and Bolpur Municipal Commissioners (Extension of Terms) Act, 1952.

(2) It shall come into force immediately oit the Rampurhat and Bolpur Municipal Commissioners (Extension of Terms) Ordinance, 1952, ceasing to operate.

2. Extension of the terms of office of the Commissioners of the Ram. purhat and Bolpur Municipalities:- Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (2) of the proviso to section 16 of the Bengal Municipal Act, 1932, and

(a) in notification No. M.1M-16 / 50(II), dated the 2nd May, 1950, as amended by notification No. M.1M16/50, dated the 9th February, 1951, in respect of the Commissioners of the Rampurhat Municipality, and

(b) in notification No. M.1M-48/50(II), dated the 15th May, 1950, as amended by notification No. 11.1M48/50, dated the 10th February, 1951, in respect of the Commissioners of the Bolpur Municipality,

the period of appointment of the Commissioners of the Rampurhat Municipality under the notifications mentioned in clause (a) and the period of appointment of the Commissioners of the Bolpur Municipality under the notifications mentioned in clause (b) shall extend up to the nst day of December, 1952.

3. Savings:- On the Rampurhat and Bolpur Municipal Commissioners (Extension of Terms) Ordinance, 1952, ceasing to operate, section 8 of the Bengal General Clauses Act, 1899; shall apply as if the said Ordinance were an enactment then repealed by a West Bengal Act.
