The Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-Patra) Act, 1956

Act No. 45 of 1956

    An Act to provide for the Issue and publication of an Official Gazette for the State.

    Whereas it is expedient to provide for the issue and publication of an Official Gazette for the State of Rajasthan and for other ancillary matters.

    Be it enacted by the Rajasthan State Legislature in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and extent. - (1) This Act may be called the Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra) Act, 1956.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.

2. Interpretation. - (1) In this Act, unless the subject or context otherwise requires-

(a) "appointed day" means the first day of November, 1956, and

(b) "State" means the new State of Rajasthan as formed by section 10 of the States Re-organisation Act, 1956 (Central Act 37 of 1956).

    (2) The provisions of the Rajasthan General Clauses Act, 1955 (Rajasthan Act 8 of 1955) in force in the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan shall, as far as may be, apply mutatis mutandis to this Act.

3. Issue and publication of Official Gazette. - With effect from the appointed day there shall be issued and published, under the authority of the State Government, an Official Gazette of the State to be called the Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra).

4. Power to make rules and orders. - The State Government may make rules and orders for carrying out the purposes of this Act.

5. Repeal and Savings. - The Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra) Ordinance, 1949 (Rajasthan Ordinance II of 1949) in force in the pre-reorganisation State of Rajasthan, the Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra) Ordinance, 1956 (Rajasthan Ordinance 7 of 1956) and any corresponding laws in force in the Abu, Ajmer and Sunel areas together with the rules and orders, if any, made under such laws, are hereby repealed:

      Provided that the rules and orders made under the said Rajasthan Gazette (Raj-patra) Ordinance, 1949 hereby repealed shall continue to be in force and shall, until new rules and orders are made under this Act, be deemed to have been made thereunder.
