THE LAND IMPROVEMENT LOANS (EXTENSION TO MIZO AND UNITED KHASI-JAINTIA HILLS DISTRICT) ACT, 1963

[Act No. 12 of 1963]

    An Act to extend the provisions of the Land Improvement Loans Act, 1883, to the Mizo District and certain areas of the United Khasi-Jaintia Hills District.

    WHEREAS the Land Improvement Loans Act, 1883 (Central Act No. XIX of 1883), is not in force in the Mizo District and the areas known as the Khasi States immediately before the commencement of the Constitution of India, which now form part of the United Khasi-Jaintia Hills District, hereinafter called the "said district and areas";

    AND WHEREAS it is expedient to bring the said Act into force in the said district and areas:

    It is hereby enacted in the Fourteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:--

1. Short title, extent and commencement:-  (1) This Act may be called the Land Improvement Loans (Extension to Mizo and United Khasi-Jaintia Hills Districts) Act, 1963.

(2) It extends to the said district and areas.

(3) It shall come into force at once.

2. Application of the Land Improvement Loans Act, 1883:- All the provisions of the Land Improvement Loans Act, 1883 (Central Act No. XIX of 1883), as amended from time to time, shall apply to the said district and areas.
