1. Short title commencement and application.- (1) These Rules may be called the Karnataka Departmental Inquiries (Enforcement of Attendance of Witness and Production of Documents) Rules, 1981.
2. Issue and service of summons.- (1) The authorised Inquiring authority may issue summons to persons whose attendance before it is required either to give evidence or to produce documents or for both.
(2) Every summons issued by the authorised inquiring authority shall be in duplicate and, as nearly as may be in Form-13 of Appendix B of Schedule I to the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 and shall be signed by the authorised inquiring authority and, where the the Lokayukta or an Upalokayukta or an officer on the staff of the Lokayukta is the inquiring authority, also be sealed with the seal of the Lokayukta.
(3) A person may be summoned to produce a document without being summoned to give evidence and any person summoned merely to produce a document shall be deemed to have complied with the summons if he causes such document to be produced instead of attending personally to produce the same.
