Karnataka Civil Services (Recruitment) (Kannada Language Test) Rules, 1984

In exercise of the powers conferred on me, by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India, I, A.N. Banerje, Governor of Karnataka hereby make the following rules, namely :-

1. Title, Commencement and application:- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Civil Services (Recruitment) (Kannada Language Test) Rules, 1984.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official Gazette.

(3) They shall apply to all Group “C” posts in the State Civil Services.

2. Selected candidates to pass Kannada Language Test :- Notwithstanding anything contained in any rule made under the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution of India or in any other rule made under the provisions of any law, no candidates selected on or after 8th August 1986 for a appointment to any post to which these rules apply, shall be appointed unless he passes such Kannada Language Test as may be prescribed by Government by a Special or general order. The Kannada Language Test shall be conducted by the appointing authority before the selected candidate is appointed.
