THE INDIAN STAMP (ASSAM AMENDMENT) ACT, 1968

ASSAM ACT X OF 1968

    An Act further to amend the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 in its application to Assam.

    Preamble:- Whereas it is expedient to amend the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, hereinafter calied the principal Act, in its application to Assam, in the manner hereinafter appearing;

    It is hereby enacted in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as foJlows :-

1. Short title, extent and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Indian Stamp (Assam Amendment) Act, 1968.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.

(3) It shall come into force at once.

2. Amendment of section 2 of Act II of 1899:- In section 2 of the principal Act, after clause (7), the following shall be inserted namely:-

"(8) "Chief Controlling Revenue Authority' means the Superintendent of Stamps, Assam."
