Goa, Daman and Diu Irrigation Act, 1973

AN ACT to make provision for the construction, maintenance and Regulations of Canals, for the Supply of Water therefrom, obtaining labour in emergencies and for the levy of rates for water so supplied and certain other matters pertaining to Irrigation in the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu.

Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Goa, Daman and Diu in the Twenty - fourth Year of the republic of India as follows:-

PART I

Preliminary

1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Goa, Daman and Diu Irrigation Act, 1973.

(2) It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu.

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette appoint: Provided that different dates may be appointed for different areas of the Union territory of Goa, Daman and Diu.
