Contingency Fund of Meghalaya Act, 1970
THE CONTINGENCY FUND OF MEGHALAYA ACT, 1972
MEGHALAYA ACT 5 OF 1972
An Act to provide for the Establishment and Maintenance of a Contingency Fund. Be it enacted by the legislature of Meghalaya in the Twenty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
1. Short title:- This Act may be called the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya Act, 1972.
2. Establishment of the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya :- There shall be established a Contingency Fund in the nature of an imprest to be entitled the “Contingency Fund of Meghalaya ”, into which shall be paid from and out of the Consolidated Fund of Meghalaya a sum of rupees fifty lakhs.
3. Custody of Contingency Fund and withdrawals therefrom:- The Contingency Fund of Meghalaya shall be held on behalf the Governor by the Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya in the Finance Department and no advance shall be made out of such fund except for the purpose of meeting unforeseen expenditure pending authorisation of such expenditure by the Legislature of Meghalaya under appropriations made by law.
4. Power to make rules:- For the purpose of carrying out the object of this Act, the Government of Meghalaya may made rules regulating all matters connected with or ancillary to the custody of, the payment of moneys into and the withdrawal of moneys from, the Contingency Fund of Meghalaya.
5. Repeal of Meghalaya Act 2 of 1970:- The Contingency Fund of Meghalaya Act, 1970 is hereby repealed.
