Assam Act No. 4 of 2003

    An Act to repeal the Bodoland Autonomous Council Act, 1993

    Preamble. - Whereas it is expedient further to repeal the Bodoland Autonomous Council Act, 1993 to have the way for establishment of an Administrative Authority in the name and style, "Bodoland Territorial Council (B.T.C.)" within the State of Assam under the Sixth Scheduled to the Constitution of India, in pursuance of the Memorandum of Settlement signed on 10th February, 2003 at New Delhi between the representatives of the Government of India, the Government of Assam and the Bodo Liberation Tiger.

    It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-fourth Year of the Republic of India, as follows:

1. Short title, and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Bodoland Autonomous Council (Repeal) Act, 2003.

(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. Repeal of Assam Act, No. XI of 1993. - The Bodoland Autonomous Council Act, 1993 is hereby repealed.
