THE ASSAM NON AGRICULTURAL URBAN AREAS TENANCY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1958

ASSAM ACT XXI OF 1958

    An Act to amend the Assam Non-Agricultural Urban Areas Tenancy Act, 1955 (Assam Act X I1 of 1955)

    Preamble.— Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Non-Agricultural Urban Areas Tenancy Act, 1955 (Assam Act X II of 1955), hereinafter called the Principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;

    It is hereby enacted in the Ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows :—

1. Short title, extent and commencement.— (1) This Act may be called the Assam Non-Agricultural Urban Areas Tenancy (Amendment) Act, 1958.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the Principal Act.

(3) It shall come into force immediately.

2. Amendment of Section 3 of the Principal Act.—For clause (d) of Section 3 of the Principal Act, the following shall be substituted, namely :—

“ (d) ‘Permanent structure’ means a structure made of cement-concrete, stone, brick, iron, aluminium, asbestos or wood or any combination of these materials:

Provided that a building with bamboo or Ikra walls and thatched roof shall also be regarded as a permanent structure, if its frame is constructed of any of the materials mentioned above
