THE ASSAM LOCAL RATES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1954

ASSAM ACT Xl OF 1954

    An Act further to amend the Assam Local Rates Regulation, 1879.

    Preamble.- WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Assam Local Rates Regulation, 1879 (Regulation III of 1879), hereinafter called the Regulation, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;

    It is hereby enacted as follows:-

I. Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Assam Local Rates (Amendment) Act, 1954.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the said Regulation .

(3) It shall come into force from lst April 1954.

2. Amendment of section 3 of Regu1ation III of 1879:- In the first proviso to section 3 of the said Regulation the words "three annas" shall be substituted for the words "two annas and eight pies".

3. Amendment of section 3A of Regulation III of 1879.-In section 3A of the said Regulation for item (ii) the following shall be substituted, namely:-

"(ii) eight annas per acre or the amount assessed under section 3 whichever is higher in the case of other lands".
