THE ASSAM LAND AND REVENUE REGULATION (AMENDMENT ) ACT , 1957

ASSAM ACT XIII OF 1957

    An Act to provide for the safety of Government interest against various loans and advance issued by Government as security of unencumbered landed properties.

    Preamble.—Whereas it is expe dient to make provision for the safety of Government interest against various loans and adva nces including Housing Loan s issued by Government on security of unencu mbered landed properties .

    It is hereby enacted in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India as follow s:—

1. Short title, extent and commencement.—(1) This Act may be called the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation (Amendment) Act, 1957.

(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Assam.  

(3) It shall come into force at once .

2. Definitions .—In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context —

(1) “ Government ”—means State Government of Assam.

3. Amendment of Section 71 of Regulation I of 1986.— Insert the following proviso after the third proviso to Section 71 of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation, 1886, namely:—

“ Fourthly, nothing in this section shall apply to encumbrances created in favour of Government in any Estate.”
