THE ASSAM EVACUEE PROPERTY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1959

ASSAM ACT No. XXVIII OF 1959

    An Act to amend the Assam Evacuee Property Act, 1951.

    Preamble .— Whereas it is expedie nt to amend the Assam Evacuee Property Act, 1951 (Assam Act XI of 1951), her ein after referred to as the principal Act, in th e ma nner hereinafte r ap pe aring ;

    It is hereby enacted in the Tenth Year of the Republic of India as follow s:—

1. Short title , extent and commencemen t. —-(1) This Act may be called the Assam Evacuee Property (Amendment) Act, 1959.

(2) It extends to the whoie of Assam.

(3) It shall come into force at once .

2. Amendment of Section 2 of Assam Act XI of 1951 .—In Section 2 of the principal Act, add the following new clause after clause (f) , namely and the subsequent clauses shall be re-numbered accordingly: —

“ (g) ‘Minority Commission’ means and shall be deemed always to have meant a Commission as may be constituted by the State Government under the Indo-Pakistan Agreement of the 8th April 1950, by notification in the Official Gazette.”

3. Amendment of Section 6 of Assam Act XI of 1951.— In sub-section (3) of Section 6 of the principal Act, the following shall be deleted, namely:—

“ constituted under Notification No.RHM .65/50/14, dated the 4th June 1950”.
