THE ASSAM ELECTRICITY DUTY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1984

ASSAM ACT No. XIX OF, 1984

    An Act further to amend the Assam Electricity Duty Act, 1964.

    Preamble. Whereas it is expedie nt fu rth er to amend the Assam Electricity Duty Act, 1964, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing;

    It is hereby enacted in the Thirty-fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—

1. Short title, extent and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the Assam Electricity Duty (Amendment) Act, 1984.

(2) It shall come,into force from 1st October, 1984

2. Amendment of Section 3 of Assam Act XXX of 1964:- In the principal Act, in Section 3, for sub-section (1), the following shall be substituted, namely :

"(1) There shall be levied and paid to the State Government a duty, to be called the 'electricit y duty’, at the rate of five paise perun it of energy,—

(a) supplied by the Board to a consumer within the State or to any consumer outride the State; or , ,

(b) supplied to a consumer by a licensee gener ating energy or pro curing energy in bulk from the Board; or

(c) generated by a person or a company or a firm or any organis ation for own use or consumption.”
