THE ARUNACHAL PRADESH MUNICIPALITY DISCLOSURE ACT. 2009

(ACT NO. 5 OF 2009)

    An Act to provide for transparency and accountability in the functioning of Municipalities in the State of Arunachal Pradesh.

    BE it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arunachal Pradesh in the Sixtieth Year of the Republic of the India as follows:

1. Short title and commencement:- (1) This Act may be called the Arunachal Pradesh Municipality Disclosure Act, 2009

(2) It shall extend to such Municipalities, as may be notified by the State Government of Amnachal Pradesh from time to .ime ;

(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different area in the State.

2. Definitions:- In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-

(i) "Assets" means all immovable assets in the Municipality;

(ii) "Municipality" means an institution of self-Government constituted under Article 243,Q of the Constitution ofindia;

3. Obligation of Municipality:- Every Municipality shall maintain and publish all its records duly catalogued and indexed, in a manner and form which enables the Municipality under this Act to disclose the required informations as specified in Part A and Part B of Appendix tc the Act at quarterly intervals;

4. Manner of disclosure:- Manner of Disclosure shall include:-

(i) "Assets" means all immovable assets in the Municipality;

(ii) Newspaper in regional, Hindi and English language:

(iii) Internet ;

(iv) Notice boards of the Municipality ;

(v) Ward Offices ;

(vi) Any other mode, as may be prescribed, by the State Government under this Act, or Rules made thereunder or notification issued from time to time.
